The Garage

Located in heart of DTSB
We recently moved into our new space at 119 W Wayne St, located in downtown South Bend. While we are currently open on Wednesday evenings from 5-8pm, one of our strategic initiatives is to expand our open hours as we build the capacity to serve more riders and increase community access.
Buy-A-Bike
We accept donated bicycles, restore them with care, and offer them for sale at affordable, community-friendly prices. Each refurbished bike:
-
Undergoes a full mechanical inspection
-
Has worn or broken parts replaced
-
Is tuned and prepared for safe, smooth riding
These bikes give residents access to low-cost, dependable transportation and help keep bikes out of the waste stream.
Repair-A-Bike
During open shop hours, anyone can bring their bikes in for:
-
Affordable repair services performed by experienced volunteer mechanics who donate their time and labor.
-
Because labor is voluteer-supported, we do not charge for labor. Instead, we focus on helping you understand your bike and getting it back safely on the road.
-
DIY workstand access for those who want to fix their own bike
-
Guidance and support for learning basic maintenance skills
Whether it’s a flat tire, shifting issue, brake adjustment, or a full tune-up, our goal is to keep people riding safely and confidently. There is no charge for labor. We sell parts at affordable prices, typically at or near our cost to purchase them.
Parts & Essentials
We offer a selection of new and used parts essential to keeping bikes in good working order, including:
-
Tires, tubes, chains, and cassettes
-
Brake pads, cables, and housing
-
Lights, locks, and other safety gear
All parts and accessories are priced to support access and affordability. Our goal is to keep cycling accessible, educational, and affordable for everyone in the community.
A Community Resource
The South Bend Bike Garage operates as a welcoming, educational space where people of all ages and experience levels can learn, maintain, and ride. Our team, made up of skilled mechanics, instructors, and helpers, works to create a positive environment where bikes become a pathway to mobility, empowerment, and community connection.
